Entry restrictions to Norway
Based on the recommendation of the FHI entry restrictions to Norway apply to Germany, Denmark and other countries (overview map and further information here). Please check ahead of each trip whether you are authorized to enter. The restrictions have different consequences for our ferry operations. If travel restrictions change our departures may also change.
Based on the Norwegian authorities Covid-19 measures, Color Line has decided to cancel all departures on the route Oslo-Kiel to 02.05.2021.
The route is operated by Color Carrier with departure from Oslo on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday and departure from Kiel on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. More information.
Color Line temporarily suspends passenger traffic from Denmark to Norway, while the socially critical freight transport remains unchanged. The reason is a lack of clarity about how the regulations for entry and quarantine obligations are to be handled for passenger ships arriving in Norway. We are working to get a clarification, and hope for a reopening soon so that passengers with a valid entry to Norway can travel with Color Line from Hirtshals to Larvik or Kristiansand.
A one-way trip from Norway to Denmark according to the current rules described below is still possible.
Rules from Norway to Denmark: You can enter Denmark if you have a valid purpose for visiting. You also have to present documentation of a negative Covid-19 test (either quick test or PCR test) upon entry. The test must be completed less than 24 hours before entry. The same applies if you have to travel through Denmark to get to another country (transit). It is not possible to test at our terminals on departure. People who cannot present documentation on a negative test are refused to travel with Color Line.
If you are a Danish citizen, or have a residence registered in the Danish population register, you can always travel to Denmark without presenting a negative test..
All travelers are required to test within 24 hours after arrival. There are some exceptions, see the exceptions here. You are required to stay 10 days in isolation (quarantine) after entry. You can come out of isolation when a negative result of a PCR test, taken at the earliest on the fourth day after entry, is available.
All departures of our ferries between Sweden and Norway are cancelled to 02.05.2021.
To ensure our passengers a safe journey, Color Line has now introduced requirements for the use of face masks on board our ships. All passengers over the age of 12 must therefore wear a face mask during the entire crossing and when driving on board and ashore. You do not have to wear a face mask when you are seated at your table and consuming food and drink or in your cabin. We encourage everyone to bring a face mask, but it will also be possible to buy this at the reception on board and at check-in.
