Tickets should be reserved in advance. The reservations must include the passenger's full name, address and telephone number, as well as the ages of anyone travelling with you. When reserving a vehicle space, we require information on the model and make of car, vehicle registration number, length and height (including any roof luggage)
For trailers, the length must includes the hitch. Only vehicles with drivers will be transported. Baggage must be personal effects only. Household goods, trade fair goods, etc. must be listed on the cargo manifest. Please contact Color Line Cargo
RECEIPT:
No tickets will be sent to you, the receipt in menu 4 of the Online reservation dialogue or your e-mail receipt is your written confirmation that the ticket(s) with the stated information has been booked with Color Line. Keep this information in a safe place, as you'll need it if you want to change/cancel the reservation(s).
PAYMENT:
When you book a trip with Color Line, you may pay in the following ways:

CHANGING/CANCEL RESERVATION:
Should you need to change/cancel the reservation(s), the reservation number and the security code given to you in menu 4 of the Online reservation dialogue must be entered as passwords to access this option. Remember to keep this information in a safe place.
Economy car packages.
Payment must be made when ordering. The ticket will not be refunded if cancelled. The prices are determined by supply and demand and will therefore fluctuate from one day to another and between the summer and winter seasons.
You can choose between different levels of flexibility:
Step 1 - Best price
No changes allowed. Exceptions that are allowed includes changes of number of passengers,size of vehicle and upgrade of cabin.
Step 2 - Semi Flex
The ticket can be changed to a departure on the same price step.
Step 3 - Full Flex
The ticket can be changed to all available departures for a supplement.

CANCELLATIONS:
For cancellations of car packages (value above $ 325) the following charges apply:
30 – 15 days before departure: 10% of the ticket price.
14 – 6 days before departure: 25% of the ticket price.
5 – 24 hours before departure: 50% of the ticket price.
Less than 24 hours before departure: 100% of the ticket price.
For cancellations of full-fare tickets the following charges apply:
More than 24 hours before departure: No charge
Less than 24 hours before departure: Ticket is non-refundable, but may be used within 12 months from date of issue.
For cancellations of economy car packages, no refund will be given.
ALTERATIONS:
There is a charge for alterations made by the passenger – minimum $15 per alteration.
RESERVATION TERMS:
Color Line reserves the right to cancel any sailing, in which case the passage money will be refunded in full. If it is necessary to make any changes to the schedule, dates, time, port of call or otherwise diverge from the published itinerary, Color Line cannot accept the responsibility for any loss or expenses incurred by the passenger. Color Line reserves the right to change the vessel described on this Internet site.
NO SHOW:
On our round trip packages it is required that the outbound sailing must be used in order to use the return sailing. If you do not show up for the outbound sailing the return will automatically be cancelled and you will not be offered a refund.
TICKETS:
The ticket price applies to the voyage per person and per berth in the required cabin category. Meals are not included in the ticket price unless otherwise specified. Color Line reserves the right to charge any additional amount according to the price list on the day of departure. Applications for refunds on unused tickets must be made in writing and must be received by Color Line no later than four months after the date of departure. No refunds will be given for lost tickets. Tickets are non-transferable. Color Line reserves the right to change reserved accommodation. When a client buys a ticket from Color Line on the Internet, the client must pay the price according to the Internet's timetable and fares.
BOARDING:
Passengers travelling by car must be available for check in no later than 60 minutes (90 minutes from 15/06 to 15/08) before departure, and walk-on passengers no later than 60 minutes before departure on the KIEL–OSLO route. On the HIRTSHALS-KRISTIANSAND/HIRTSHALS-LARVIK routes, all passengers must be available for check in no later than 60 minutes before departure. For day sailing, cabins must be vacated no later than 1½ hours before arrival. On the SANDEFJORD-STRÖMSTAD route, all passengers must be available for check in no later that 30 minutes before departure (60 minutes from 22/06 to 26/08).
BAGGAGE AND CARGO:
Passengers are allowed up to 50 kilos of luggage, or a half-cubic metre in volume free of charge, in addition to luggage stored in their motor vehicle. Furniture, crates, larger suitcases, trunks etc. must be regarded as cargo and will be subject to a freight charge. Please contact Color Line Cargo
TRAVEL DOCUMENTS:
All passengers must be in the possession of valid travel documents. These must be shown upon request. The passenger is responsible for any costs if she or he is not granted entry. Vehicles must have licence stickers and the driver must have proof of international insurance, the so-called “green card”, and the vehicle registration book. Vehicle owners are recommended to contact their insurance companies prior to departure for the most recent regulations pertaining to the vehicle in question. Remember to bring your valid passport for non-Nordic countries!
STUDDED TYRES:
Studded tyres are prohibited in Germany, but are allowed in Norway during the winter (November – April). Winter tyres (or snow chains) are recommended when driving in Norway during the winter.
TRANSPORTATION OF LIVE ANIMALS:
There is a US$ 10 fee for transportation of dogs and cats in a vehicle or cage on the car deck.
Please note that Norway and most other European countries have very strict provisions with respect to the importation of live animals. For further information and an application form, please contact a veterinarian. Animals are not allowed into the public areas or cabins.
BLIND/VISUALLY IMPAIRED
We require that we are informed about passengers who are visually impaired or blind for safety reasons.
Visually impaired or blind passengers may travel without accompaniment and are allowed to bring guide dogs to selected cabin types. Guide dogs are allowed in most public areas on board. The number of guide dogs allowed per sailing is limited.
Passengers should contact the reception on board should they need information about safety issues or the ship in general.
For information about appropriate routes for walking a guide dog please contact the reception on board.
We ask that passengers travelling with guide dogs show consideration to allergenics.
MISCELLANEOUS:
All transport of passengers, baggage and vehicles is subject to the provisions of the Norwegian Maritime Act, and Color Line’s Bill of Lading Conditions are applicable to all transport of goods for which a Bill of Lading has been issued.
PORT AND SHIP SECURITY:
For security reasons, passengers, luggage and vehicles can be searched prior to boarding. If passengers refuse to comply, they may be refused entry with no refund of their ticket.
CONDITONS:
Color Line reserves the right to amend the prices and times listed at www.colorline.com. Color Line also reserves the right to amend prices due to fluctuations in currency rates, fuel prices, taxes and duties, and to change the travel plans and routes for all Color Line ships. For freight transport, the shipping line’s bill of lading conditions apply to the degree the bills of lading are completed. With respect to delays or operational disturbances, Color Line assumes no responsibility or liability for damages.
