Color Line places great emphasis on safety and environmental issues. The company’s goal is always to be among the international leaders in this field.
Safety
Color Line has a Safety Management Code (SMS) for the operation of its passenger ferries. The company works continuously to upgrade this code of practice. Color Line is also represented on several international bodies which are working to promote safety and protect the environment.
Environment
Color Line was awarded the Oslo Port Authority Environmental Award for 2001. The company has started to use more environment-friendly fuel, has begun to sort its refuse at source and has initiated a number of projects to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases. With effect from 2001 all Color Line ships have started recording an environmental balance sheet which details emissions to air, discharges to water and to harbours. The company is now aiming for certification according to the ISO 14001 environmental standard.
Safety on board
All the company’s ships carry highly visible information regarding safety routines on board. An overview of onboard safety procedures and routines is also available on our website. The information is available in both Norwegian and English.
